Apples and Oranges.

Here’s more footage of me hopping in with the ST guys.  Let me tell you, it was a pretty short session for me.  I could hang for a little bit until they started throwing on 25kg. plates like it was candy.  All things being said, it’s good for me to step outside of my comfort zone every now and then and work on a few things that have always been a weak point.  It’s not like I would ever program reverse band deadlifts into my team’s program but gaining a little more knowledge and strength will carryover to me personally as a lifter and a coach.  Plus I’m having fun.

For those of you new to the strength game, comparing Olympic lifting to powerlifting is like comparing apples to oranges or football to basketball.  I could go on in length about why but I’m sure there’s already a plethora of literature out there on the subject, so I’ll just leave you with a little nugget of knowledge I picked up at school.  Strength is both speed and mode specific.
