    Hey Ben!

    Did you glue or only screw boards of wood together? Are these particleboards? Looks like the two on the bottom are cheaper ones and the top one is high grad?

      Markus, thanks for the comment. Yep, you’re right on, we got slightly cheaper wood for the bottom layer and a layer of pine for the top piece. The difference was maybe like 5 bucks a sheet. We decided not to glue them down to make changing out the pieces easier. Also, we decided to leave the top pieces unfinished for better grip. Newbie gyms will often choose the shiniest finish without considering how slippery the platforms will be especially dusted with chalk.

        Thanks Ben! Kinda backs up my plan of building the platform. 🙂 I’m still a little undecided if a single ‘bottom layer’ is enough to withstand the test of time. Usually you see platforms with two ‘base layers’ and then a 12mm (3/4 inch) top layer with rubber and high qual wood center piece..
